  • Are bacteria and viruses prokaryotes or eukaryotes?
- Only bacteria has prokaryotes as cell types. prokaryotic cells are generally much smaller .&&. more simple then eukarotes.
- Only viruses have eukarotes.

  • Compare the genetic material of these two types of cells ( prokaryotes .&&. eukaryotes ).

- Prokaryotes are organisms made up of cells that lack a cell nucleus or any membrane-encased organelles. This means the genetic material DNA in prokaryotes is not bound within a nucleus. Additionally, the DNA is less structured in prokaryotes than in eukaryotes. In prokaryotes, DNA is a single loop. In Eukaryotes, DNA is organized into chromosomes. Most prokaryotes are made up of just a single cell (unicellular) but there are a few that are made of collections of cells (multicellular). Scientists have divided the prokaryotes into two groups, the Bacteria and the Archaea.

- Eukaryotes are organisms made up of cells that possess a membrane-bound nucleus (that holds genetic material) as well as membrane-bound organelles. Genetic material in eukaryotes is contained within a nucleus within the cell and DNA is organized into chromosomes. Eukaryotic organisms may be multicellular or single-celled organisms. All animals are eukaryotes. Other eukaryotes include plants, fungi, and protists.
  • Find a diagram of a bacteria with a long flagellum, find out the size of this bacterium in meters.
flagellum - A long whip-like structure used for locomotion (movement). ... in
which the cell increases in size and then splits in two. ...
ocean canyons and trenches that are more than 32800 feet (10000 meters) deep.
  • Compare the organelles contained in these two types of cells ( prokaryotes .&&. eukaryotes ).
- (1) Prokaryotes (pro: before, karyon: nucleus) which are single-celled organs that contain a single cellular strand of DNA & possess few of the internal structures.

- (2) Eukaryotes (eu: true, karyon: nucleus) are more complex single- celled organisms that originate from prokaryotes.

*Eukaryotic cells contain DNA within a nucleus which is a membrane-bound structure.

*Complex organisms e.g. Man is built up of millions of cells that are especially adapted to carry out particular functions. The process of cell differentiation begins early in the embryo & the cells of a particular type (e.g. blood cells, liver cells) always give cells of the same type.

  • According to one site, prokaryotes do not possess the complex equipment necessary for respiration. Where then does respiration occur?

  • One website informs us the prokaryotes actually come in two forms; what are they? From which website did you obtain this data?
- eubacteria and archae bacteria
( http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_two_forms_do_prokaryotes_come_in)
  • Which of these sites did you like best and why?
**The sites that i liked best was wiki-answers because it has most of the information that i was looking for. That website is good for most things that you want to find out. If you type the question or statement right your answer is most-likely to be found in wiki-answers.**
