1. Lily learns some things about her mother from August. How are Lily and Deborah alike? How are they different? You may want to use the Venn diagram to help you answer this question. Think about how each person’s environment shaped them and what Lily has learned from the choices that Deborah made. Share something that you have learned from your mother’s choices and how it has

shaped who you are. What choices would you make the same/different?

Lilly an Deborah are alike because they are both white .&&. miss each other so. They are different because Deborah is a(n) adult .&&. Lilly is a child and Lilly is going to keep looking and striving to find her mom and she's not going to give up untill she does.

Mom- My mom made some pretty bad choices in life that she wishes to take back and she tells me everyday when you do something think about it because when you do something you cant take it back what ever you do is going to be said .&&. done.

Me- I learn from my mommies mistakes a lot she tells me a lot of her teenage years how having kids f*** up her teenage years. How she wish she would have went to college and got ah degree to becoming something in life. My older sister graduated high school with a (4.5) and with having a baby and that can be tough every one thought she would be the one to make it but she backed out of going to college when she had got excepted to every black college there is.So my mom hopes i'm the one to make it and walk across the college stage no matter how many bumps i get in the road.

2. Review your answer to question 1, from Chapter 5. Reread the last three paragraphs of page 242 and reevaluate your previous answer? Would you change your answer? If so, how. If not, why?

No, because my mind is set upon what i want to do in life. If this refers to the question about Lilly and her mother i don't know because the books are in use by Mrs. Jones's class witch means there's not one avalible.

3. How does the quote at the beginning of the chapter relate to Lily’s anguish?

4. How did the truth about Deborah differ from the image Lily had carried with her all of her life? Was Deborah a bad mother and bad person or was Lily’s image of her unrealistic to begin with?

Her image of her mother was unrealistic to begin with any way because no ones mother can be that true everybody has something wrong with them basically " no one's Mr. perfect"

5. Discuss Deborah and T.Ray as parents. For each, discuss whether their personal issues justified their treatment of Lily.

6. Has Lily found “the mother within herself?” How do you know?

No , But to tell the truth i don't know because i don't think we've read that far in the chapter or book so to answer the question no i don't know if she's found the mother within herself.
